Ancient family secret hair care tips.
Posted by hazel on Nov 23, 2007 in Herbal Recipes • No commentsThis is a continuation of my general yesterdays rant. I don’t want to bore any one, but with extensive research I’ve managed to get a list of good tips to use for hair care and you can try them out and let me know how they worked on you. So here goes,
- Coconut oil massages which are really smelly but seem to work on my once curly hair. Rub in the oil and then leave on overnight .Wash off with warm water early in the morning. Pretty good results, really nice warm coco nutty smell as well.
- Choose the best habits for maintaining your hair. Ok so this may sound silly but it’s true. Good habits include no smoking, a healthy balanced diet with extra calcium and at least three glasses of water per day.
- Pamper your hair at least once a week and get your stylist to note down a list of hair care products which you can use regularly at home.
- Jojoba oil is also pretty good for healthy hair. Warm it slightly and rub with a cotton pad into the roots, leave on for an hour then wash off with the Reetha shampoo I mentioned in the earlier article.
- Mash an avocado with mayonnaise and use as a conditioning pack .I used half an avocado (ate the remaining) and about a teaspoon of mayo, pretty good results with soft lustrous hair and good shine. Really liked this one.
Although these may seem like pretty humdrum hair care tips ,I vaguely remember my mother making her own shampoo and conditioner at home with herbal products.
Give me a few days and I’ll try to cajole the secret out of her. She doesn’t really like me after I published the Reetha shampoo and yoghurt/egg/vinegar tip on the net. Family secrets, you see!
Let’s wait and watch. She might simmer down in a few days. Meanwhile watch this space!
